Overview

Designed for a pavilion where forest meets water, this bespoke interior was built end to end with handmade pieces. Each table, cabinet, and fitting was drawn individually to the proportions of the space.

The glass-fronted structure draws the view inside, while the interior offers a calm balance against the intensity of nature.

Design Intention

The intention was to build an interior that does not compete with the view. The furniture was kept low and the colours drawn from the tones of the forest. In this way, the eye is always pulled toward the water and the trees outside.

Material Palette

Oiled chestnut, dark travertine, natural wool, and patinated bronze. The colours speak with the shaded greens of the forest and the dark tones of the earth.

Spatial Experience

As morning mist settles on the lake, the interior is dim and warm; toward noon, light pours through the glass and the timber surfaces come alive. In the evening, the warm glow of the bronze fittings turns the room into a lantern.

Details

The frame of the seating group was cut from a single chestnut log; the bookcase was hand-bent to follow the curve of the wall. Every detail was made to belong to this space and could not be moved to any other.
